In line with the purpose of promoting food security in the region, the DILG Regional Office 8 joins the national launch of the KADIWA Ng Pangulo (KNP) on July 17, 2023, at the PCA Area, Government Center, Palo, Leyte.

KADIWA is a marketing initiative of the Department of Agriculture (DA) that seeks to provide consumers with access to quality yet affordable goods and commodities and facilitate the access of farmers, fishers, and microenterprises to the market. Eastern Visayas is one of the regions that actively participated in the said national launch of KNP, with six locations in all provinces in the region that feature different local produce and delicacies.

In his message of support, RD Arnel M. Agabe shared that DILG Region 8 is committed to taking concrete actions to uplift and empower the people. And working closely with local government units to ensure that policies and programs are in place to address local needs.

“As one of the key partners of the DA, one of our objectives in the DILG is to create long-term sustainability of the KNP through local product promotion and inherent implementation by our cities, municipalities, and provinces, encouraging business location and incubation, thereby creating jobs and livelihoods for the people,” RD Agabe said.

RD Agabe also expressed his support for President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr., in his aspiration to achieve food security in the country by coordinating with the partner agencies.

It is important to note that the KADIWA not only supports our agriculture but also ensures the affordability of food in the community. LGUs are also encouraged to establish KADIWA stores for easier access to agricultural produce, ensuring the full sustainability of the program.
