TACLOBAN CITY – DILG Regional Office 08, in partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Region 8, held a Capacity Development activity dubbed as “Ensuring Ease of Doing Business (EODB): Training on the Integration of Barangay Clearance in the LGU Permitting Process and other EODB initiatives” on November 21, 2022, at the Madison Park Hotel, Tacloban City.

 

Said training was conducted to equip participants coming from selected Local Government Units in Eastern Visayas, with the necessary knowledge on how to integrate barangay clearance into the city or municipality’s permitting processes and other EODB initiatives.

 

LGCDD Chief Rudith A. Roca put premium on the significance of the integration of barangay clearances in the LGUs to guarantee ease of doing business among its processes.

 

Highlights of the activity included a discussion on the salient features of RA 11032 or the Ease of Doing Business / Efficient Government Service Delivery Act of 2018 which was presented by EODB Focal Person Atty. Noemi Tan of DTI 8.

 

LGOO VII Mauricio T. Labado, Jr. of DILG Leyte discussed the salient features of the guidelines in the integration of barangay clearance in the permitting process of cities and municipalities as well as the integration of barangay clearance in business permits, and in the issuance of local clearance in building permits.

 

LGOO VI Geselle P. Endriano, Assistant Division Chief of LGCDD, dished out the Roles and Responsibilities of the Cities, Municipalities and Barangays in relation to the integration of barangay clearances in the LGUs.

 

Present during the training were Local Government Units of Limasawa and Anahawan of Southern Leyte; Baybay City, Carigara, Javier, Leyte, Sta. Fe, and Babatngon of Leyte; Hinabangan and San Jose de Buan of Samar; Llorente and Quinapondan of Eastern Samar; and Laoang and Palapag of Northern Samar. (LGCDD | M. Sernal)
