MANILA – DILG VIII, in partnership with the Provincial Board Members League of the Philippines – Eastern Visayas Chapter, conducted the Newly-Elected Officials (NEO) Orientation Course for Local Legislators on November 16-18, 2022 at the Century Park Hotel, Manila.

This three-day activity aimed to provide both conceptual and practical inputs to support local legislators in crafting their respective Legislative Agenda to transform personal advocacies and campaign promises into actionable steps toward the effective and efficient delivery of basic services.

Modules for the Training focused on strengthening the capacities of 57 Provincial Board Members for them to effectively discharge their duties and responsibilities as local legislators.

Topics pertaining to Smart Cities and E-Governance, Seal of Good Local Governance, Adaptability to Vulnerable, Uncertain, Complex, Ambiguous (VUCA) World, Strategic Management, and Futures Thinking were discussed throughout the activity.

NEO is a continuing intervention of the DILG through the Local Government Academy (LGA) in its commitment to continuously provide excellent and innovative solutions anchored on the principles of transparency, accountability, participation, and effective local governance.

This year, the orientation course was dubbed NEO Orientation Course for Local Legislators: Primed Leaders for Renewed Local Governance. (LGCDD | J. Delantar)
