MAASIN CITY, SOUTHERN LEYTE – DILG 08 participated in the Pasidungog 2022: Annual Awarding of Local Government Exemplars held on November 14, 2022, at Lourdes Convention Center, Mantahan, Maasin City, Southern Leyte.

 

DILG 08 Regional Director Arnel M. Agabe, CESO III graced the activity in line with the celebration of the 31st Local Government Code Anniversary. The Pasidungog was spearheaded by the Provincial Government of Southern Leyte and DILG Southern Leyte to give tribute and recognition to Local Government Units and Barangay Officials who made an exemplary difference across local governance areas.

 

Southern Leyte Governor Damian G. Mercado and DILG Southern Leyte Provincial Director Danilo A. Laguitan officially opened the activity. Both leaders applauded the LGUs and barangay functionaries and officials for the distinguished feats achieved in their areas of governance.

 

RD Agabe congratulated the Province of Southern Leyte and emphasized supporting the best practices in order to sustain good governance. He added that the laurel should not rest but should be improved every day.

 

Highlights of the activity include the awarding of the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG), Seal of Child-Friendly Local Governance, Anti-Drug Abuse Council (ADAC) Performance Audit, Peace and Order Council (POC) Audit 2022, and Lupong Tagapamayapa Incentive Awards (LTIA). All the Local Chief Executive awardees were accompanied by their respective C/MLGOOs to receive a plaque and trophy. On the other hand, the LTIA awardees also received cash incentives from the Province of Southern Leyte.

 

Other highlights include the awarding of the Outstanding Stakeholders and Multi-Stakeholder Advisory Council (MSAC) members and partners in the capacity development of LGUs, a partner in “Catalyst of Change”. The MSAC members included the Southern Leyte State University (SLSU), Saint Joseph College (SJC), Department of Education-SL, Philippine Information Agency (PIA), Philippine Red Cross (PRC), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), 14th Infantry Battalion (14IB) Philippine Army, Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), Department of Health (DOH), Gawad Kalinga (GK), and Provincial Government of Southern Leyte.
