ORMOC CITY – In the pursuit of achieving local autonomy at the city level, the DILG Regional Office 08 attended the Election of Civil Society Organizations (CSO) Representatives to Local Special Bodies (LSBs) at the Ormoc City Sangguniang Panlungsod Session Hall on November 4, 2022.

Seventy-five (75) CSOs attended the activity which aimed to provide an orientation on the roles and functions of LSBs and the election guidelines. The activity then proceeded with the nominations and acceptance of the newly-elected CSO officers who will be part of the LSBs of the City. Awarding of Certificates of Accreditation, and discussions on the Post-Accreditation Policies and the importance of CSOs in LSBs were also conducted during the activity.

In his message, DILG 08 Regional Director Arnel M. Agabe highlighted the critical role of CSOs in embodying good governance in their respective communities. He also added that the CSOs are critical actors in the full implementation of the Devolution Transition Plan (DTP), wherein priority projects should be identified by the different sectors of the community.
