TACLOBAN CITY – The DILG RO 8 started the first Monday of October with activities in celebration of the Local Government Code Month through the blessing and inauguration of the Peace and Resilience Center (PRC) Annex cum PDMU Building, launching of the Panlantaw: Anti-Illegal Drugs Short Film Competition, and MOA signing of the DILG 8 with the CSO Development Alliance of Northern Samar for the Third Party Monitoring of SBDP projects.

The inauguration of the PRC Annex building was led by Marlo L. Iringan, CESO III, Undersecretary of Local Government, together with Assistant Director Rene Valera, OPDS / LEO PMO, Arnel M. Agabe, CESO III, incoming Regional Director of DILG R8, Atty. Arnaldo E. Escober Jr., CESO V, outgoing Regional Director, and Atty. Darwin N. Bibar, CESO V, Assistant Regional Director, Provincial and City Directors, and Division Chiefs.

This was followed by the blessing of the PRC Annex Building led by Rev. Fr. Raymund Mazo and the launching of the Panlantaw: Anti-Illegal Drugs Short Film Competition.

The outgoing DILG 8 RD Escober highlighted in his message that the PRC Annex Building symbolized Region 8’s commitment to assist the LGUs in sustaining peace and order in the region.

Another highlight was the MOA signing between the DILG 8 and CSO Development Alliance of Northern Samar Inc. for the Third-Party Monitoring for the FY 2021 LGSF-SBDP. This activity was led by RD Agabe, ARD Bibar, and Mr. Gregorio O. Sarmiento, President of the CSO Development Alliance of Northern Samar. This partnership established the role of CSOs in monitoring the SBDP projects in Northern Samar.

The activities were attended by the Provincial Cluster Heads and personnel from the Regional and Field Offices of Regions 8, 5, and 10. | G. Canillas
