Director Arnel M. Agabe of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Region 8 lauded DILG Leyteโ€™s notable accomplishments and offered strategic guidance during the Provincial Officeโ€™s Mid-Year Performance Review and Strategic Planning cum Provincial Team Conference, held on June 27, 2025, at the Kinaadman Hall, DILG Leyte Provincial Office in Tacloban City.
The day-long conference served as a venue for assessing first-semester accomplishments and aligning second-semester priorities. Highlights of the agenda included planning sessions for Communities for Peace (C4PEACE) activities, Newly Elected Officials Performing Leadership for Uplifting Service (NEO PLUS) Program orientation, and wellness and cultural activities to reinforce team cohesion and well-being.
In his guidance, RD Agabe emphasized the need to anchor all efforts in measurable impact and results, noting, โ€œOur passion must be evident not just in words, but in performance and tangible outcomes.โ€ He also commended DILG Leyte for having three barangays advance to the national validation stage of the Lupong Tagapamayapa Incentive Awards (LTIA)โ€”a testament to the province’s commitment to strengthening barangay justice systems.
Underscoring the importance of strategic foresight and operational discipline, RD Agabe called on the team to identify performance bottlenecks, ensure timely fund utilization, and sustain a high level of professionalism. He likewise emphasized the need to institutionalize knowledge management practicesโ€”both within DILG and in support of LGUsโ€”such as regular reflection sessions and re-echo activities. These mechanisms, he noted, are essential to fostering a culture of learning, collaboration, and continuous improvement across all levels of governance.
He further emphasized the importance of individual accountability, asserting that โ€œeach personnelโ€™s performance impacts the entire teamโ€™s effectiveness.โ€ His presence reaffirmed the regional officeโ€™s commitment to excellence in public service and its continued efforts to empower field offices with the right tools, mindset, and systems to uphold responsive and accountable governance.
The activity concluded with a renewed sense of direction and commitment among DILG Leyte personnel as they prepared to meet the demands of the second half of 2025 with clarity, focus, and collective purpose.
