Reinforcing its commitment to gender-responsive governance and public health, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Region 8 took part in the Bi-Annual National Program for Family Planning and Women and Children Protection Program (NPFP-WCPP) Consultative Meeting held on June 2โ4, 2025, at Hotel Estrella, Tacloban City.
Spearheaded by the Department of Health (DOH), the three-day event gathered key government stakeholdersโincluding DILG, the Philippine National Police (PNP), the Department of Education (DepEd), and provincial and city focal persons for NPFP-WCPP and Responsible Parenthood and Reproductive Health (RPRH)โfor a strategic dialogue on the progress and challenges in implementing family planning and gender-based programs across the country.
With its overarching goal of assessing program implementation, addressing operational gaps, and crafting actionable recommendations, the consultative meeting provided a vital platform to align the efforts of various agencies toward a more efficient and community-centered delivery of services. Discussions highlighted the need to strengthen inter-agency coordination, ensure comprehensive service delivery for women and children, and enhance the capacity of healthcare providers, especially in underserved and geographically isolated areas of Eastern Visayas.
The consultative meeting concluded with renewed commitments from participating agencies to sustain and scale up their shared initiatives for improved health outcomes and protection mechanisms for women, children, and families in the region.
