DILG Region 8 Holds 2024 DAYAW Awards, Celebrates Excellence in Public Service

Honoring the best and brightest in public service among its ranks, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Region 8 held its prestigious 2024, DAYAW Awards on December 19, 2024 at the People’s Center and Library, Tacloban City.

The DAYAW Awards, a tradition of recognizing excellence within DILG, celebrated employees and teams whose contributions have not only propelled the DILG 8 forward but also exemplified the department’s core values of Matino, Mahusay, and Maaasahan. The awards were given in various categories to individuals and groups who have made a substantial impact on local governance and public service delivery.

𝗦𝘂𝗯-𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗱𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀:

• 𝗕𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗗𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻: Local Government Monitoring and Evaluation Division (LGMED)

• 𝗕𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆/𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆/𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗗𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿: DILG Southern Leyte & Provincial Director Danilo A. Laguitan

In addition to these honors, DILG Region 8 also recognized employees who have retired after dedicated years of service to the government. Special acknowledgment was also given to the 21 graduates of the 57th Batch Apprenticeship Program and its two topnothcers: Top 3 John Rafael P. Delantar, LGOO II of DILG Leyte, and Top 2 Melford G. Maderazo, LGOO II of DILG Tacloban City, standing out for their remarkable achievements.

DILG Region 8 Regional Director Arnel M. Agabe delivered an inspiring State of the Region Address (SORA) during the event, highlighting the significant strides made in local governance across Eastern Visayas. He expressed pride in the department’s achievements throughout the year and congratulated all awardees for their continued commitment to public service. He also encouraged everyone to carry this momentum and reach greater heights in 2025.

“We’ve done great so far, and I am proud of what we have accomplished this year. As long as we keep working together, I am certain that we can achieve our goals for 2025. As I always say, TEAM stands for Together, Everyone Achieves More,” said RD Agabe.

The DAYAW Awards recognize the DILG Region 8’s personnel and its sub-regional offices whose service contributions led to improvements in organizational productivity and enhanced public service delivery. The event also serves as a celebration of the DILG Region 8’s milestones and accomplishments for the year, capping off a fruitful 2024 for the agency.

As 2024 draws to a close, the DILG Region 8 looks forward to the milestones and challenges that it will face in the coming year. With the untiring effort and unwavering commitment of the men and women of DILG Region 8, the agency is well-positioned to keep pushing the frontiers of good local governance in Eastern Visayas in 2025.
