MALAY, AKLAN – The DILG Regional Office VIII headed by the Regional Director, Atty. Arnaldo E. Escober Jr., together with ARD Atty. Darwin N. Bibar, LGCDD Chief Rudith Roca, Provincial Directors, LGMED and FAD representatives, and 46 Local Chief Executives (LCEs) from Eastern Visayas joined the Newly-Elected Officials (NEO) Orientation Course: Primed Leaders for Renewed Local Governance at the Paradise Garden Resort Hotel and Convention Center, Boracay Island on July 27-28, 2022.

The course aims to provide the NEOs with a foundational and critical understanding of the organizational, political, and constitutional environment of public service at the local level. Participants of the event were first-term Municipal Mayors from Regions 6, 7, and 8. This activity is spearheaded by the DILG-Local Government Academy (LGA), in cooperation with the League of Municipalities of the Philippines and hosted by LGRRC-Region VI.

The program covered Module I: Gift of Good Governance (3Gs), Module II: Resilience, Recovery, and Revitalization for Peaceful and Vibrant LGU, Module III: Advancing Local Governance Performance: Solution Seeking Sessions, and Module IV: Transformational and Futuristic Leadership to Spark Good Governance.

In his message, RD Escober said, “Maraming salamat sa inyong pagdalo at pagtugon sa ating hangarin na patuloy na itaas ang antas ng ating serbisyo at paglilingkod sa bayan.” Further, the Local Governance Regional Resource Center (LGRRC) exhibit booths were showcased with the theme “Pursuing Excellence in Local Governance” and were participated by the DILG Regional Offices 6, 7 and 8, together with the Local Government Academy, League of Municipalities in the Philippines, Department of Health, and National Nutrition Council.
