rss DILG Sec. Roxas to lead covenant signing for peaceful elections

Secretary Mar Roxas of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) will lead the signing of the covenant on peaceful elections on April 13, 2012  for candidates vying for various elective posts in the promise of Samar.

This was revealed by Regional Director Pedro A. Noval Jr. of DILG, who added that the covenant signing at the Calbayog City cathedral would be officiated by no less than Most Rev. Isabelo C. Abarquez, Bishop, Diocese of Calbayog who will bless the agreement between rival politicians in the province of Samar.

Leyte receives the DILG Gawad Pamana ng Lahi award 1The Province of Leyte maintained its hold on the provincial category of the regional Gawad Pamana ng Lahi (GPL) award for two years in a row.

Last December 14, 2012 during the Christmas Party of the provincial government of Leyte held at the new Convention Center in the town of Palo, Governor Mimiette S. Bagulaya formally received the P 3 Million cash prize and trophy from Director Pedro A. Noval Jr. of the Department of the Interior and Local Government.


Aside from the trophy prepared by DILG national office, Dir. Noval, assisted by DILG-Leyte Provincial Director Artemio B. Caneja also presented Gov. Bagulaya a plaque of recognition from DILG-regional office.


 LGUs to Highlight Women’s Role in Disaster Risk Reduction and Management during Women’s Month Celebration

The key role of women in disaster risk reduction and management shall be among the highlights of the activities that will be conducted by local governments 
nationwide as they celebrate Women’s Month this March, according to Interior and Local Government Secretary Jesse Robredo.


“It is high time that we accentuate women’s involvement in disaster preparedness, risk reduction, recovery and rehabilitation,” said Robredo, adding that "they (women) too play an equally important role in these efforts."

The theme for this year’s celebration, “Women Weathering Climate Change: Governance and Accountability, Everyone’s Responsibility,” underscores the role of women as powerful agents of change in disaster risk reduction.

rss DILG Highlights Disaster Preparedness in Tapatan Roadshow

tapatanSecretary Jesse M. Robredo of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) led in the regional launching of the Seal of Disaster Preparedness during the Tapatan roadshow on Disaster Preparedness on Monday, June 11, 2012 held at DPWH Mutli-Purpose Hall, Government Center, Palo Leyte.
During his speech introducing the Seal of Disaster Preparedness and interfacing with local chief executives and their respective LGU DRRM officers; member agencies of the Regional DRRM Council; media; and civil society groups underscored the need for local governments to be both “mahusay at matapat”.
He expressed hope that the system of instilling good governance by providing incentives for performance while providing guidance on standards would be felt by the community.


 DILG-8 holds earthquake drill


 March 1, 2012


In an effort to orient its own personnel on the proper procedures to be observed in the event of an earthquake the regional office of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) in Eastern Visayas conducted its own drill on March 1, 2012.

The drill, which was held in line with the call of the Office of Civil Defense for a synchronized nationwide earthquake drill, involved personnel of the regional office, guests as well as those holding offices within the building,
